Wireless connectivity is provided from the built-inclass 1 radio that has a high-power transmitter and enhanced receiver. Theintegral antenna provides wireless coverage for devices up to a range of 100meters. Red-M 1000AP access points can be added to expand Bluetoothcoverage and number of users.
Bluetooth: The Red-M 3000AS access server provides central management of Bluetooth enabled devices - including access points and end-points - within the Bluetooth network, allowing users to seamlessly roam between access points.The software in the 3000AS manages all devices within the Bluetoothnetwork, including authentication and assigning user access rights, and Bluetooth profile support means a wide range of devices including PDAs, Laptops.
Security: Resilience and security are at the heart of the 3000AS design allowing the system to be configured to the appropriate security level for any given installation. Standard Bluetooth security is enhanced by the in-built software with additional authentication and authorization features that provide five configurable security levels, covering: Link-level authentication to determine the identity of the user of a wireless device; Link-level encryption to secure the wireless link and prevent eavesdropping ; Device authorization to prevent access to the network from unauthorized devices; Access control to ensure users only have access to appropriate services ; Individual user authentication using user names and passwords .A RADIUS Client is also included to allow the 3000AS to be integrated with existing management systems.
Networking: The 3000AS enables the wireless environment on customers’ premises to be easily connected to the Internet and intranet. Authorized Bluetooth devices are provided with direct Internet/intranet access wherever they are in the Bluetooth network. The software in the 3000AS allows the same easy access to user data and emails whether connected locally via Bluetooth or remotely via a secure Internet VPN link. In environments with an existing LAN, the 3000AS can be integrated seamlessly allowing existing services to be extended over the Bluetooth network.
Management: The 3000AS supports an appliance mode of operation for rapid and easy deployment and management. Once installed, the system can receive updates and enhancements via the Internet, avoiding the need for costly site visits.
